The design language, functionality and atmosphere of Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos stems from the principles of the Sámi craft tradition: durable, beautiful and purposeful.
The expansion of Kajaani Upper Secondary School and Vocational College incorporated wooden architecture into the stone-built campus and city center environment.
The new facilities for primary school and preschool at the Toholammi municipal center were designed with common sense.

Kortetalo school

The plot, the distinctive style of the area, and the space efficiency and cost requirements set for the building presented challenges for the architecture of the Kortetalo.
The Šielâ school center in Inari was built on the site of an old school with indoor air quality problems. The starting point for the design was not only the location but also the Sámi culture.
An invitational competition was held to design a replacement for the historic building at Alakylä School, which was won by alt Arkkitehdit with their proposal “Harja”.
The Niemenrantatalo school and kindergarten are inspired by the architectural style of the Oulu school. The building is clad in red brick.
Modern facilities for pre-school and lower grades, supporting the new curriculum’s phenomenon learning, were designed to be efficient, but on a human scale.
